Long ago, a woman who had committed terrible sins (cannibalism, infanticide, defilement, or some other evil deed depending on who you ask) was cursed to transform into a headless mule every night and run through the countryside, belching great gouts of hellfire from the bloody stump of her neck. Passersby must take great caution as to never cross its path or wear anything reflective that might shine in the moonlight, or else be trampled down. Even the glint of one’s teeth or nails are enough to catch its attention. The only way to ward it off is to spill its blood with a silver needle.
